What’s New with FSMA in Utah?

In September 2016, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) awarded the Utah Department of Agriculture, a five year grant/cooperative agreement to implement the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule.

Under this Cooperative Agreement, UDAF will provide statewide training/outreach for the Produce Safety Rule.  UDAF will facilitate the required Produce Safety Alliance – Produce Safety Rule Grower Training. The UDAF Produce Grower Training team consists of Trainers from Utah State University Extension, UDAF Plant Industry and UDAF Regulatory Services. UDAF and USU Extension will also provide one-on-one “On Farm Readiness Review” consultations to help farms understand and comply with the Produce Safety Rule.

For a quick reference to the Produce Safety Rule, please see FSMA PSR Key Requirements.
